The 2023 Annual Winter Symposium (Day 3) from the Centre for Research Training Foundations in Data Science – Careers Panel

The Science Foundation Ireland Centre for Research Training in Foundations of Data Science are delighted to host a data science careers panel with experts from industry and academia.
Dr Claire O’Connell will lead and moderate a discussion with postdoctoral researchers, established academics, and representatives from our industry partners, the Enterprise Alliance.
Claire will be joined by:
Dr Philippa Wilkes (UL) – Postdoctoral researcher in data analytics and statistics, with a background in organic chemistry.
Dr Fernando de Pol Mayer (MU) – Postdoctoral researcher focusing on statistical models applied to ecological and environmental problems.
Dr Helen Purtill (UL) – Lecturer in Statistics at UL, with experience in longitudinal population studies and statistical methodologies for health and industry related data.
Dr Rafael de Andrade Moral (MU) – Lecturer in Maths and Stats at Maynooth, with research interests including the development and application of statistical modelling techniques to Ecology and Entomology.
Ganesh Sistu (Valeo) – Deep learning architect whose team develops large-scale unified deep learning models for visual perception in Level-3 autonomous driving vehicles.
Dr Patrick Fournet (Met Eireann) – Research Funding & National / International Coordination Manager.
