Ellie holds a B.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Limerick. Ellie’s PhD work focuses on the understanding and communication of health risk, which inspired the creation of an education intervention with journalism students. She has previously worked with clustering, functional data and has done statistical analyses for other researchers. Ellie is passionate about teaching and interested in working on more interventions for journalists. She is also interested in data analytics and applied statistics in the medical and healthcare field, particularly in areas of mental health and well-being.
Thesis title: Perceptions of health risk and health risk communication in journalists
12-week training placement: Central Statistics Office (CSO). Ellie worked on investigating the robustness and biases of a methodology for population counts.
