Anna completed a B.Sc. in Physical Technology in Germany followed by an M.Sc. in Robotics and Automation in Sweden. In her PhD, Anna works on teaching mobile manipulators how to grasp objects in domestic environments. After training her neural networks on simulated data, she applies them to a real robot called TIAGo and tests her algorithms in different scenarios. One thing that Anna enjoys most about her work is when she gets to show what TIAGo can do in various outreach projects. Nothing tops explaining robotics to kids and seeing their fascination when TIAGo grasps objects or tells them a joke.
Thesis title: Grasping with Mobile Manipulators
12 week training placement: Anna worked with researchers from Valeo Vision Systems on detecting keypoints for image matching in Fisheye images. The work was published at the international conference VISAPP in 2022: https://doi.org/10.5220/0010795400003124
