James Gleeson holds a BSc in Mathematical Science and an MSc in Mathematical Physics from University College Dublin. In 1999 he completed his PhD in Applied Mathematics at Caltech. He has lectured at Arizona State University and at University College Cork, and since 2007 has held a Chair in Industrial and Applied Mathematics at the University of Limerick.
James’ research interests are in mathematical modelling of stochastic dynamics, with a particular focus on complex systems and networks. He is a co-PI of the Confirm and Insight Research Centres, has held four Principal Investigator awards from Science Foundation Ireland and was a co-PI on a Future and Emerging Technologies project funded by the European Commission’s FP7.
James is co-director of MACSI, the Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry ( http://www.macsi.ul.ie/ ) and Director of the SFI Centre for Research Training in Foundations of Data Science
