Robert graduated with a BSc in Physics with Astronomy at Dublin City University (DCU), followed by an MSc in Mathematical Modelling from the University of Limerick (UL). Robert then worked as a research assistant in Professor Andrew Fowler’s group in the Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry (MACSI) at UL for 11 months. Robert’s main subject area of interest is applied mathematics, he is interested in utilising mathematical techniques to benefit society by contributing to the solving of today’s complex environmental, industrial, economic and societal challenges.
Thesis title: Volcanism and Mass Extinction Events

12 week training placement: Hertz – Robert worked on analysing, creating interactive dashboards and foreacting of Hertz fleet and Insurance Replacement system data using Tableau data visualization software, Python and AWS.
International Placement: Robert completed a two month placement in the University of Oxford, he was desked in the Mathematical Institute and met with a number of Earth Sciences academics to gain better insight into geological phenomena.
