Stephen graduated from the University of Limerick with a B.Sc. in Applied Physics in 2020 and originated from a farming background. For his final year thesis, he proposed applying machine learning to assist in classifying images obtained by Transmission Electron Microscopes. Following this project, Stephen hopes to advance his interest in machine learning and its applications through a Ph.D. He is also interested in many fields of physics as observed by his presidency of the UL Astronomy Society and affiliation with the Institute of Physics. Outside of academia, Stephen is an active member of many clubs and societies in UL.
